Overview
Send a direct, one-time message to a patient from their patient info page. A one-off message is intended for direct outreach.
Before you begin
- Access to the Patient page.
- The patient must have a mobile number on file to be messaged.
Steps
- Go to the Patient info page and open the patient you want to message.
- In the patient info page, click Communications.
- Review the conversation window. If the patient has more than one message thread, select the correct thread at the top before sending.
- Confirm the patient can be messaged. If messaging is available, you can type in the message box at the bottom; if it's unavailable, the page will note that the patient needs a mobile number or email on file.
- If your organization uses multiple sending numbers, review the Sending from dropdown and choose the correct number. If only one default number is used, it's already shown.
- Type your message in the message box.
- To start from a saved template instead, click the message template icon next to the message box. This opens your saved broadcasting templates — select one and the text loads into the message box. You can still edit the wording before sending.
- Review the message. For SMS, use the segment indicator to see whether the text is getting too long.
- Click Send.
- Confirm the message appears in the conversation thread.
