Overview
This article helps you understand what Arbol is, what each report builder field means, and how to choose the right options when you build a report. You may need it if you manage operations, monitor work queues, answer recurring business questions, or prepare updates from Calvient data.
Before you begin
- You need access to Config and Reporting (Arbol).
- Your browser must allow new tabs or pop-ups for Calvient.
- The available data in Data Set, Filters:, and Aggregator: depends on your organization’s enabled report sources.
- You do not need prior reporting experience to follow this guide.
Steps
- Click Config.
- Click Platform Settings.
- Click Reporting (Arbol).
- Review the report list. Arbol is Calvient’s reporting workspace for saved tables and charts. Depending on your organization’s available data sets, you can use it to review appointments, tasks, inbox work, surveys, balances, AI call activity, and other operational work.
- Review who should use Arbol. Use it when you need a report you can reopen, share, refresh, and compare over time.
- Click Report Library when you want a prebuilt report instead of starting from a blank report.
- Click Create Report when you want to build a new report from scratch.
- Click View on an existing report when you want to learn from a saved report before building your own.
- Review a report page. A report is the full page. A section is one table or chart inside that page.
- Enter a name in Report Name. This is the title users see in the report list and on the report itself.
- Enter text in Report Description. Use it to explain what the report is for, what time period it answers, or who should use it.
- Click Create Report. This creates the report container only. It does not add data until you add at least one section.
- Click Add New Section. Use a new section each time you want another table or chart in the same report.
- Review Section Type. This controls how the section displays data. It does not change which records the section uses.
- Select Table when you want grouped rows, sortable columns, and a layout that is easiest to inspect in detail.
- Select Line Graph when you want to show change or movement across a horizontal timeline or another ordered x-axis group.
- Select Bar Chart when you want to compare category sizes side by side.
- Select Pie Chart when you want to show how one total is split into parts.
- Enter a name in Section Name. This should describe what the section shows, not how it is built.
- Enter text in Section Description if the section needs more context for other readers.
- Select a value in Data Set. The data set is the source of the rows Arbol uses for that section. This is the main choice that decides what kind of information the section can show.
- Review Filters: after you choose Data Set. Filters narrow the data before Arbol counts, groups, or summarizes it.
- Click Add Filter when you want to limit the section to part of the data, such as one status, one location, one time bucket, or another available value.
- Select a value in Select a filter. This chooses which field Arbol should use to narrow the data.
- Select a value in Select a value. This chooses the allowed value inside that filter field.
- Click Add Filter. The filter appears under Filters: and now limits the section results.
- Review Aggregator: if you chose Line Graph, Bar Chart, or Pie Chart. The aggregator tells Arbol what number to calculate from each group of rows. In plain language, this is the rule that turns many rows into one result, such as a count, a total, or an average.
- Review Show on x-axis: if you chose Line Graph or Bar Chart. This picks what appears across the bottom of the chart.
- Review Sub-divide the data by:. This splits the section into categories inside the larger result. Select None when you want one overall result instead of several grouped results.
- Review Percentage Mode: after you set Show on x-axis:. None shows raw values. % of X-Axis Group shows each category as a share of its own x-axis bucket. % of Total shows each category as a share of the full result.
- Click Add Section to Report. Arbol saves the section and starts building the data view.
- Review Loading data... and Estimated time remaining if the section needs time to build. This means Arbol is preparing the section data.
- Click Refresh when you want to rerun a finished section with its current settings.
- Click Force Refresh if the page shows This is taking longer than expected.... This tells Arbol to try the section again.
- Review the dropdown above a table after the section loads. This dropdown switches between the grouped results created by Sub-divide the data by:.
- Click a table column header when you want to sort table results.
- Click Download View when you want to download only the current grouped view.
- Click Download All when you want to download the full section output instead of only the current grouped view.
- Click Edit Section when you want to change the section settings after you review the result.
- Enter a number in Section Sequence when you want to change the order of sections in the report. Lower numbers appear earlier.
- Click Update Section to save section changes.
- Click Edit Report when you want to change the report name, description, or access.
- Review User Access. This controls which individual users can open the report.
- Review Team Access. This controls which teams can open the report.
- Select Everyone in User Access when every user at your organization should be able to open the report.
- Click Edit Report to save the report changes.
- Click Delete only when you want to remove the report or section. Arbol asks you to confirm with Are you sure? before it deletes the item.
Troubleshooting
- If the Arbol page does not open, then allow pop-ups or new tabs for Calvient and try again.
- If the report looks blank right after you create it, then add a section with Add New Section. A new report does not contain data until you add sections.
- If Add Filter does not appear, then the selected Data Set does not provide filters.
- If Aggregator: does not appear, then the selected Section Type does not use an aggregator.
- If Show on x-axis: does not appear, then the selected Section Type is not Line Graph or Bar Chart.
- If Percentage Mode: does not appear, then set Show on x-axis: first.
- If the results do not answer the question you expected, then review Data Set first. Data Set controls the source data, while Section Type only controls display.
- If the chart is hard to read, then add filters or switch the section to Table.
- If the percentages look wrong, then review Percentage Mode:. % of X-Axis Group and % of Total answer different questions.
- If the section stays on Loading data..., then wait for the first run to finish. If the page later shows This is taking longer than expected..., then click Force Refresh.
- If the data looks outdated, then click Refresh.
- If you picked the wrong Data Set, then create a new section. The Edit Section page does not let you change Data Set after the section is created.
- If another user cannot open the report, then add that user in User Access, add their team in Team Access, or select Everyone in User Access.
- If you click Delete and nothing happens, then click Are you sure? to confirm the delete.
