Enable Reminders for an Appointment Type

Overview

Turn on reminder channels (call, SMS, email) for a specific appointment type and choose which templates it uses. Enabling reminders here allows the appointment type to use reminders — but reminders only send when the rest of the setup is also in place.

Before you begin

  • Access to Config > Reminders > Appointment Types.

Steps

  1. Go to Config> Reminders > Appointment Types.
  2. Find the appointment type you want to update.
  3. Click Edit on that appointment type.
  4. Open the Reminder Settings tab.
  5. Review the template selections at the top of the tab — Call Template, SMS Template, and Email Template. Use these to have this appointment type use a specific reminder template instead of the general default.
  6. Turn on the reminder channels you want this appointment type to allow:
    • Call Reminders Enabled
    • SMS Reminders Enabled
    • Email Reminders Enabled
  7. To let patients confirm through reminder emails, turn on Email Confirmations Enabled. This allows the email reminder to support patient confirmation for that appointment type.
  8. Leave any channel turned off if that appointment type should not receive reminders through that method. (Example: to get text and email reminders but never phone calls, leave Call Reminders Enabled off.)
  9. Click Save.
  10. Repeat these steps for any other appointment types that should be reminder-enabled.

Troubleshooting

  • If reminders still aren't sending after enabling them here, then confirm the rest of the setup is in place. A reminder also needs an active reminder setting or booking notification setup, the matching template, and the channel enabled at the location and provider/resource level if those are also being used.
